The Law Library was established in August, 1946 with the inauguration of the Seoul National University. It is a memorial library built with private funds from a SNU graduate late Kooksan Taeksoo Kim, and it was named Kooksan Library after his pen name in 1982. It was integrated into SNU Library in 1983. In 2009, with the founding of the Law School, Soam College of Law opened with the generous support of alumnus Soam Seyoung Yoon. Soam College of Law was merged with Kooksan Library to become what is now the best Law Library in Korea.
